“Oh hush. Do you guys need anything else?” Liz asks turning bright red.

“No, thank you. How much do I owe you for the tea and cinnamon roll?” I ask.

“No worries girlie, it’s on the house,” Liz says.

“Oh no, I possibly couldn’t. You barely know me, please, I insist.”

“I won’t take your money,” she says.

I notice a jar in the back for a fundraiser for a local student. “How much would have my meal been if you would have let me pay?”

“7.50 for it all, why?” she asks.

I walk over to the jar and place a ten-dollar bill inside. “Since you won’t let me pay for my food, at least I can contribute to this.”

“I’ll accept that. I like her,” Liz says.

“I appreciate the delicious food and tea. I’m going to head on back to my place, I need to start working on my sketches and mockups for the restaurant. I want to have everything ready. It was nice meeting you Liz and Buzz.”

I hold my hand out to Winger. “Thank you for introducing me to this place and showing me around a bit.”

He takes my hand in his. “No problem honey. Can I walk you to your hotel?”

“Uh, I think I’ll be alright. I need to get used to things around here since I am going to be around a bit. Thanks though.” I move to the door and walk out. I don’t correct him or give him a chance to reply back. I don’t want him knowing that I rented a small house for the time I’m here. Usually jobs like these take a while to complete and I need time away from the city and time alone.

  Chapter 3

  Winger

Man, that girl is going to drive me crazy. The way she was eating the cinnamon roll, I almost came in my pants. I’m a fucking grown ass man and I almost came in my pants from watching her eat a cinnamon roll. I can’t help but think of what else she can do with that mouth of hers. There is something about her that makes me feel oddly calm, something unusual since I just met her.

“Buzz man, next time put your woman back together after you fuck her in the kitchen.”

“Screw you man, that’s my old lady.” I can see him getting pissed.

“Exactly man, she walked out here look like she had the fucking of her life. I don’t want people getting the wrong idea of Liz. Be careful man.” I can’t believe I’m the one saying this, but it has to be said. We don’t want people getting the wrong idea of our old ladies. We protect them with our lives.

“Shit, you’re right. I didn’t think of that. Was it that obvious?”

“Yeah, shithead.” I smack him on the back of the head. “You ready to leave? We have church in a few. Breaker wants to talk about the new job we have.”

“Let me say bye to my old lady.” Buzz walks back to where Liz is and gives her a kiss on the forehead. I won’t say that I don’t ever want that, but I just don’t want it right now. I’ve been abandoned and hurt by any woman that has ever meant something to me. My mother, grandmother; all the woman in my life have treated me like shit. I’m not about to let another into my life to make me feel like shit again. I screw them once and I’m done. No strings, no nothing. It’s the best way.

I see Buzz heading back my way. He is a tough motherfucker, I never thought he would settle down, but Liz is his perfect match.

“Alright man, let’s get going,” he says as he approaches.

“Bye Liz, I’ll see you at the barbeque.”

“Yup, see you guys later.” She gets easily distracted by a customer that walks in.

Buzz and I walk both walk to our bikes. Next to our old ladies and the club our bikes are our babies. We both hop on and start them up. I can see Sam in the distance walking towards the restaurant.

  15 minutes later…

Buzz and I both arrive at the Corrupted Saints Clubhouse at the same time. I park right in the front. Only fully patched leadership is allowed to park up at the front. I can tell by the bikes that are parked that Buzz and I are the last ones to arrive.

“Shit man, we’re late,” Buzz says.

  “We’re fine,” I say.

We make our way into the clubhouse and immediately I’m hit with the smell of cigarettes and booze from the night before. When we party, we party hard. This weekend we are supposed to have a barbeque. We have a bunch of our fellow chapters coming in this weekend. It’s going to be huge. Buzz and I make our way straight to the huge double wooden doors that I made when we first moved to this building. As we make our way to the other side I see Pres, Tank and Rock sitting at the table.

“Well, it is about fucking time you both got here,” Tank, our Vice President, says.

“We got held up at the bakery. The new designer came into town and we brought her to Liz’s,” I say.

“How did that go?” Breaker cuts in.

“Everything went good, that chick knows her shit. She has a good eye. I gave her free reign,” I say.

Rock starts coughing. “You gave her free reign?”

“Yeah, what’s so wrong with that?”

“You don’t let anyone do anything when it comes to Saints Grill, and you just gave a complete stranger total control.” He looks at me completely dumbfounded, in fact they are all looking at me with dumbass looks on their face.

“You’ve seen her portfolio and her website. We are lucky to have gotten her here in the first place.”

“She must be a dime,” Rock says.

  “Shut the fuck up man.”

“Well, is she? Buzz, you saw what she looks like,” Pres asks this time.

  “She’s cute.”

  “Cute?” Rock asks.

“Yeah, I mean I couldn’t really see much, she was covered up. She has a pretty face,” Buzz says.

“Ooooh, I’m going to tell Liz you find the new girl cute,” I say tauntingly.

“Whatever man, why don’t you just answer the question? I only have eyes for my old lady,” Buzz says.

“She isn’t my type. She isn’t the fuck and leave type.”

“Hey, no one is to fuck things up with the new designer. She is my old lady’s friend. You do anything to mess this up, I will fuck you up. Got it?” Breaker says.

“Got it. Can we get this meeting going? My balls are feeling heavy,” I say.

“You’re a nasty fuck,” Tank says.

“Well, I haven’t been in a pussy in days and I’m itching. My balls are heavy.”

“You’re itching from the STD you caught,” Rock throws my way.

“At least I get pussy,” I say back.

“Alright enough talk about Winger’s balls. Let’s get started you fuckheads. We have a security run to do,” Breaker says.

  “For who?” I ask.

“We are to protect and deliver a shipment of cars and parts. It’s for an old buddy of mine from back in the day.”

“Bullshit, what is it really?” I ask. Every criminal from here to Timbuktu will say they want us to deliver car parts, but that’s never the fucking case.

  “Drugs,” Pres says.

  “That’s more like it.”

“What’s the timeframe and where are we headed?” Buzz asks.

“They need the goods delivered next Friday, and we are headed across state lines. We might be in Lucifer’s Apostles territory. Winger, I want you on point with this one. I don’t have a good feeling, but they are paying us huge to get this run done.”

It’s as if the air was sucked out of the room as soon as he said we were going into Lucifer’s Apostle’s territory. They are a nasty group of fucks. They don’t have any regard for human life. They are a new club, but they have no reservations to shoot a fucker for looking at him wrong. They are heavy into drugs and weapons. There is also word that they deal in trafficking.

“Shit Breaker, this seems super risky for even us to take,” Tank says.

“We just need to be on point with this one. Everyone is hands-in on this one,” Breaker says.

  2 hours later…<
br />
We have spent the past two hours discussing the specifics of this run. It is going to be one hell of a run. They are delivering the goods Thursday, we are doing the run Friday morning. It should be a clean and swift run if we don’t run into any problems.

I stand up from the table to stretch.

“No cuts on this run,” Breaker says.

  “I agree,” I say.

“We don’t want to draw any attention to ourselves. We can blend in more if we wear civilian clothes,” Tank cuts in to say.

  “Exactly,” Breaker says.

“Alright then, we will meet on Thursday to receive the delivery, and then Friday morning we get this shit done,” I say

“Anyone want to say anything else?” Breaker asks.

  No one says anything.

“Meeting adjourned,” Breaker says as he hits the gable. Everyone gets up and heads out to the main room of the clubhouse.

I have done hundreds of runs with the Corrupted Saints, and this is one of the few jobs that I don’t have a good feeling about. Shit is about to get real.

  Chapter 4

  Sam

After the bakery, I went back to the restaurant to sketch. I didn’t want to head towards the house I’m staying at just in case one of the bikers decided to follow me. I’m not too trusting of anyone right now. I finally make it back to my house. It’s walking distance to Liz’s bakery and to the grill.

I was able to create a program that allows me to create 3D sketches of the designs I create. I have a funny educational background, I’m educated as a physician assistant. My adopted family made me go into the medical field, and being the good girl, I listened. It wasn’t until I graduated that I decided I wanted to go into interior design. I’ve always been artistic, so I decided to go with my heart, so I went back to school and studied interior design. Obviously I don’t practice as a physician assistant anymore, although I do keep up to date on my license and continuing education. I’m grateful my adopted family forced me to study medicine because Charlotte and I actually met in college while she was studying to be a doctor and I was studying to be a Physician Assistant. A lot of our classes overlapped.

I’m brought out of my thoughts by a knock at the door. It must be Charlotte, she said that she would be coming by after work.

I get up from my desk. “Coming!” I yell. I can’t wait to see her. I haven’t seen her in a while and we talk on the phone pretty often, but never in person. I peek through the door and see Charlotte with a huge man behind her. Holy shit this guy is hot. Apparently Charlotte is surrounded by hot men, what am I doing wrong in life? I open the door and we both squeal in joy as we hug.

“Oh my god, it’s so good to see you. I’ve missed you so much,” she says.

“I’ve missed you too.” Hugging her feels so comforting to me. We went through a lot in college together. Especially related to her shithead brother.

We break apart and hear a throat clearing. It’s the gorgeous man. “Oh shoot, let me introduce you to my husband. Sam, this is Breaker. You guys spoke on the phone already,” she says.

I extend my hand out to shake his and he reciprocates and shakes my hand. “It’s nice to put a face to the voice,” I say.

“Likewise. It’s nice to meet you. My old lady has been telling me all about how you guys met in college,” he says. Damn, he is a big man. Not as big as Winger or Tank, but he is huge all the same.

“Wow, you are huge. Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, it just feels like all the men I’ve been meeting in town are massive.”

Charlotte and Breaker start laughing. “It’s not a problem. My brothers are pretty big and burly, but they wouldn’t hurt a woman ever. Just ask their old ladies.”

I’m not sure how I’m supposed to take what he said, it’s kind of odd.

“Oh gosh sorry, come in.” I let them in and lead them to my living room. “Can I get you guys anything?” I ask. They both take a seat on the loveseat. Breaker gets comfortable quick. He takes a seat with Charlotte next to him and puts a protective arm behind her.

They both say no. “How the heck have you been girly?” Charlotte asks.

“I’ve been okay. Just working and living. You know me, I can never just be still. How are things with you? I’m sorry I couldn’t make your wedding. I’m sure it was beautiful.” What she doesn’t know is that my ex basically whisked me away against my will and made me miss the wedding. He thought he was doing something nice, even though I told him months in advance that I was going to my best friend’s wedding, he didn’t listen. He never listened to what I had to say.

“I’m great. Since Breaker has come into my life, I’ve never been so happy. He saved me and changed my life forever.” I know she’s talking about her brother. Her brother was an asshole. He was a disgusting piece of trash once you got to know him. He assaulted me, but I’ve never told Charlotte that. After all the abuse he did to her I will take that to my grave. She is healing and looks so in love, I would never ruin that for her.

“Can I ask you something Breaker? And please let me know if I am overstepping my bounds.”

  “Ask away,” he replies.

“Am I in danger being around your club?”

  “Sam!” Charlottes asks.

“It’s a fair question, she’s probably confused why there are so many bikers around town. I get it”

  “Ding ding ding,” I say.

“Well, I’m the President of the Corrupted Saints and the guys that you met are my brothers. We are part of a motorcycle club you could say. There is nothing to be worried about in terms of your safety. We protect our town people.”

  “Okay.” I’m still suspicious.

Charlotte is looking at me funny. “What? I know that look.”

“Why are you really here? I know you said you had time, but nothing would tear you away from your job or your boyfriend and you’re dressing like a bag lady. What’s up with that?”

“I needed change and I’m no longer dating that asshole. I needed to get out.” I’m not telling her everything.

“No, tell me everything. I know you’re not telling me everything,” she says. I look at her and then to Breaker. “Breaker, honey can you give us a moment? Let us girls catch up.” She looks up at him.

“Sure thing baby. I will be outside. I need to call Winger to discuss a few things anyway.” He stands up and gives her a kiss on the forehead before leaving.

I wait for him to close the door shut before I tell her anything.

  “Well?” she asks.

“My ex black listed me in the city. He is destroying everything I have and my name.”

“Why?” She looks worried. Damn, I didn’t want to worry her.

“Because I broke up with him and he’s pissed about it. He turned into this weirdo stalker, and he wanted to do shit to me that I wasn’t okay with.”

  “Did he hurt you?

“Yes, but I made him pay for it. You know I’m not one to take a hit for anything. I hit him back, and the shithead went to work with a black eye and a split lip.” What she doesn’t know is that I learned self-defense. I learned to protect myself, shoot a gun and how to be just a badass. It was mostly because of what happened to her, she inspired me to be my strongest self.

She starts to cough. “Oh my god. What the hell Sam? Did you go to the police?”

“I did, but his Daddy made it all go away. I left the city and came here. I’m renting this place for a while hoping to lie low.” I’m terrified of staying in the city. I think his family is involved with shady business, but I don’t tell her that.

“If you need anything, just let us know. You don’t think he will come here?”

“I hope not. He’s such a psycho. Where can I find a Breaker of my own?” My vagina has dried up like a desert. I haven’t had sex in such a long time. She starts laughing. “I’m serious girl, your husband is so hot. In fact, all the men in his club that I have met are.”

  “
Ooooo, see any that you like?”

“Come on now, I know they have girlfriends and wives. I mean I met Liz, and I am pretty sure her and Buzz were getting it on in the back. She came out looking like she got the dicking of her life.”

  “Winger is single,” she says.

“Char, even I can pick up on the fact that he doesn’t look like the type of guy to settle down,” I say. Although Winger was very attractive, probably the best looking to me, he didn’t come off as the type of guy that wants to settle down. “He looks like the type of guy to fuck and run.”

“Yeah pretty much. Would that be so wrong?”

“Ugh, yeah it would, I’m working on the restaurant for you and I don’t want things to be weird. I need uncomplicated right now, and that man has complicated written all over his hot face.”

“I agree with her. I don’t think it’s a good idea to fuck with Winger.” It’s Breaker. He shows up suddenly.

“I guess you’re right. Plus, I don’t think Winger would be able to handle this one,” Charlotte says pointing over to me.

I pretend that I’m offended. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I say with a smirk.

“That’s saying a lot there,” Breaker says laughing a little.

“Trust me babe, this girl here is a firecracker. She might look like a frumpityy frump with the weird clothes she is wearing, but she is wild,” Charlotte says.

“I’m a responsible adult now, I don’t get into such things anymore,” I say trying to contain my laugh. Charlotte and I start cracking up. Breaker looks lost. I used to be a wild child when we were in college. Charlotte would never really go out with me, but I was always getting into everything and everyone.

“I will take your word for it. Are you ready to go baby?” Breaker says as he puts an arm around Charlotte.

“Is it time already?” she responds.

“Yes, you guys have been talking for two hours,” he says back.

I look down at my watch. Damn, he’s right, it’s been a little over two hours.

“Wow, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize the time got away from us so quick,” I say.
